Welcome to Sandmagination: A New Kind of Play Experience
We knew that sand would be the central element, but imagination would be the heart of everything in our space. And from that vision, Sandmagination was born.
Sandmagination is the dream of two people, Katerina and Jason. Inspired by other indoor sandbox play areas around the country, we wanted to create something unique, something truly special—and we knew New England was the perfect place to bring this dream to life.
Our goal was to create not just a sand play area, but an environment infused with a sense of magic and wonder. We envisioned a place where children could learn, explore, and enjoy endless possibilities—not just within the sandbox but within themselves. Sand allows children to experience a calming, sensory connection, whether they’re watching it flow from one cup to another or tracing patterns with their fingers. The simple act of running their hands through the soft, flowing sand brings a natural sense of peace.
We want each visit to feel magical the moment a child approaches the door. As they peer through large windows at the sandboxes waiting to be explored, their excitement grows. The lights dance off the sand, and they walk in to see the welcoming café and colorful murals. For adults, it may be a beautiful place for their child to play; for a child, it’s a mesmerizing world ready for exploration.
Imagine you’re a child stepping into this enchanted play space. You look up, and high above, clouds and stars are waiting. As you take off your shoes, excitement builds, knowing you’ll get to play alongside your parents in the sand. You can dig for dinosaur bones, draw in the sand on the light table, pour sand through sandwheels, or see it flow through tubes on the wall. The sand flows like water, filling each space it’s poured into, or creating patterns as you trace your hand through it. Before you know it, you’re so engaged in the experience that you don’t realize your parents have been watching, smiling, as you become absorbed in your own world.
And through it all, children are discovering the basics of gravity, fluid dynamics, art, and exploration—learning while simply having fun.
